Photos…
One of my great passions is taking pictures.
I love to take photos from unusual perspectives, which are usually not seen
by most people. Close-up photography fascinates me especially.
I find the subjects for my pictures mainly in nature.
I have only dared to take pictures of people since I acquired a good zoom – except when I am taking pictures of friends, like e.g. the Bedouins. I always ask if they are OK with me taking photos, and then I feel good capturing common situations.
My first camera was a “Praktika” – a gift from my father. It was an SLR that was
adjusted completely mechanically.
In 1996 I bought a Canon EOS 500, with which I only take slides. For this reason,
my presentations on Spain are with slides.
When the digital era began, I took pictures with a Nikon compact camera from
my job. I was not totally happy with this camera, because it did not always do what
I wanted it to do.
The Samos pictures were taken with a Canon Coolpix.
For my trip to Peru, I bought a small Lumix, with which I also made the pictures of Mallorca.
But I quickly got frustrated with it so I decided to buy a proper digital SLR camera, and my choice fell on a Sony Alpha 300. However, I soon realized that the quality of its images was suboptimal, mainly because of the camera's inferior technology. At this point, I was determined to make no more compromises, and as a result of that I switched to Nikon.
Since the Wüstenklänge in the spring of 2011, I use a Nikon D 7000 and I am very happy with her.
Since March 2011, I am attending various courses offered by the Vienna school of photography. The theoretical knowledge I acquire there is extremely useful and I apply it whenever possible. Before that, I never took any photo course or read books on
the subject.
My father gave me a brief introduction on how aperture and shutter speed affects the definition, and which shutter speed and aperture made sense on which occasion. That was all.
In 2011, I completed the basic 2-semester course at the photography school in Vienna. Since then, I am better able to assess why a photo is good, or less appealing. Moreover, I adopted the habbit of always having a camera with me. For my handbag or trouser pocket I find a Nikon Coolpix P 300 most conventient.
I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures!
